INCORPORATION:
The Collective was legally incorporated in the Province of Ontario as a non-profit organization in the Spring of 1992. To present the public with an opportunity to see and discuss the thematic, aesthetic and political concerns raised by the work of lesbian and gay filmmakers.

MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide an annual film and video festival featuring gay and lesbian works that present images of gay and lesbian lives and issues; emphasize issues of multicultural diversity, gender and HIV/AIDS; encourage local artists, critics and audiences to participate in the discussion of cultural identities and aesthetics.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Making Scenes Festival provides an opportunity for not only gays and lesbians, but also film buffs and gay-positive people to view culture-specific films and videos, which have been locally curated. The program is designed to balance the presentation of works of male and female audiences and to recognize other subgroups within gay culture (such as gays and lesbians of colour, the bisexual and transgendered communities, Francophones).
