Five Swedish women who grew up during the 30's and 40's talk about how alone and different they felt until they discovered the lesbian community. The discussion touches on topics such as first attractions, parental disapproval, self-loathing, religion, Swedish law, isolation, hiding, overworking, marrying men, drugs, suicide, relationships, coming out, lesbian organizations, activism and footage of Sweden's first legally recognized lesbian marriage in 1995.

The directors evoke an unusually poetic sense of reflection and remembrance. Ultimately a film about liberation, it is a thoughtful and uplifting celebration of lesian life and love.
