Queer punk director Bruce LaBruce is back as Jurgen Anger, a playwright seeking first-hand information on the life of prostitutes on L.A.'s Santa Monica Boulevard. His quest soon focuses on Monti, played by gay icon-in-the-making Tony Ward (Madonna's ex and Dolce & Gabana model). We follow Monti's daily routine; we meet his clients and fellow streetwalkers.
It's a shady world of gigolos, underground stars, and porno divas. Beyond its documentary value (the film casts authentic hustlers in many of its roles), Hustler White questions without judging the sexual frenzy that prevails in the sex trade. But it is first and foremost a well crafted fiction that doesn't worry about taboos or conventional gay stereotypes.
