In 1958, Leo Mantha murdered his lover on a naval base near Victoria, B.C.. The trial revealed little more than their relationship. Mantha, executed in 1959, was the last man to hanged in BC Legal Memory is a story based on these real events. A narrative weaving together histories, testimonies and flashbacks, the story reveals the broad political ramifications beyond the crime itself, and uncovers an unsavoury moment in Canadian history.
